Practical Information

Weather

Vienna’s summers have gotten hot over the last decades. At the end of July, expect temperatures between 25°C and 35°C. Typically, the temperature does not sink below 20°C at nights.

If you are planning to visit nature, beware that you may be bitten by a tick. Although tick bites are extremely rare, Austria is regarded as a risk zone for tick-borne diseases. There may be some prevalence of mosquitoes in the evenings and nights, however, they are typically not carrying any diseases.

Venue

FoCM 2026 will take place in Vienna’s 9th district at Oskar-Morgenstern-Platz 1, 1090 Vienna.

The plenary talks will be held at lecture hall HS01, the workshop sessions in lecture halls HS01, HS04, HS06, HS08, HS09, HS11, HS13 and HS14. For more detailed infos on the rooms please see the floor plans!

Accomodation

Vienna has a variety of hotel and Airbnb options. At the moment, we cannot say whether we will get discounted rates at hotels near the venue.
The Faculty’s address is Oskar-Morgenstern-Platz 1, 1090 Vienna.

Phishing Alarm: Please note that as organisers we will not employ third parties to convince you to take any hotel reservation or to confirm a booking you haven’t yet done yourself. If you receive such attempts or messages, please consider them as phishing!

Transportation

The best way to reach the venue is by underground line U4 – station Roßauer Lände. You can also walk ~10 minutes from U2/U4 station Schottenring or use the tram stop Schlickgasse (line D).

Do not forget to buy a ticket at the airport or railway station! When arriving by plane, you may also consult the ÖBB info point in the arrivals for further info.

Directions from Vienna International Airport:

-) Local trains (S7, REX7) cost € 4,40 and stop at Wien Mitte – Landstraße where you can change to U4 (direction Heiligenstadt). The ticket then includes the underground journey as well.

-) There are other trains (also € 4,40) which take you to Vienna’s main train station (Wien Hauptbahnhof). See below for further directions.

-) Shuttle busses (VAL2) run to Morzinplatz/Schwedenplatz – right next to the city center and another U4 station. They cost € 9,- and do not include any further transport.

-) The City Airport Train (CAT) also goes to Wien Mitte – Landstraße. It’s ~10 minutes faster than the regional train but more expensive (€ 14,90).

Directions from the main train station (Wien Hauptbahnhof):

-) From Hauptbahnhof, you can reach the Faculty’s vicinity either by underground (U1 and then U4) or directly by tramline D (station Schlickgasse in direction Nußdorf)

Public transport tickets within Vienna are € 2,40 for a single one way trip. Daily tickets cost € 8,- and weekly ones € 17,10. These are valid for all underground, bus and tram lines as well as regional trains within the city limits.
You can find more info and webshops for tickets on the webpages of Wiener Linien (Vienna’s Public Transport Services) and ÖBB (Austrian Railways).
